Dr. Hyacinth “Dr. Hy” McKee DBH, LCSW-BACS has provided services in the profession of social work for over twenty-five years.  Her professional experience in micro practice includes, but is not limited to, psychotherapy as a private practitioner, school-based mental health, supervisory social work, and higher education.  As a macro practitioner, Dr. McKee served in several state-commissioned roles appointed by the governor of Louisiana and assisted as a social work leader in the development of state policies and laws that impact the most marginalized in her state.  With practical language and a multicultural perspective, currently as the chair of the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners regulating over 9700 licensees, she continues to serve as a “systems change” leader utilizing strategies inclusive of leveraging stakeholders and informed data to transform regulatory practices. From grassroots organizing, non-profit board governance, social work association leadership, to state regulation, she remains purposeful and strategic in her approach to work as a “thought partner” to address complex matters to ensure public protection and professional social work title protection. On the Social Work Interstate Compact Commission, Dr. McKee serves as the delegate commissioner for the state of Louisiana, Executive Committee Member-at-Large, and Rules Committee Chairperson. She was the 2024 ASWB Sunny Andrews Award Recipient. She is a 30-year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc- Rho Pi Omega Chapter, where she serves as Vice President. She has received international recognition from her professional peers as an esteemed regulator and subject matter expert.  She has been recognized as one of the 2025 New Orleans City Businesswomen of the Year.
