Amy Dechaine is a Metis/Ukrainian woman from Cold Lake, Alberta, Treaty 6 territory. She is a mother of 4, wife, sister, daughter, and friend to many. Amy is an Alumna of the Master of Indigenous Social Work program at University nuhelot’įne thaiyots’į nistameyimâkanak Blue Quills (UnBQ), where she now serves in the Faculty of Social Work as the Practicum Coordinator and Course Instructor for the Diploma of Social Work Program.

Amy began her academic journey at Portage College with a Diploma in Social Work, later earning her Indigenous Bachelor’s and Masters of Social Work degrees from UnBQ. Guided by Indigenous worldviews and practices, she is committed to being a miyo ototemihtohiwew otatoskew (good relationship worker/social worker). Passionate about the reciprocity of learning and sharing knowledge, Amy integrates diverse art modalities into education, empowering students to apply creativity within their professional practice and personal lives.
