Evan Seiden, LCSW-R, MBA, serves as the Executive Secretary of the State Board for Social Work and the State Board for Mental Health Practitioners. Evan leads statewide regulatory oversight for two of the largest licensed behavioral health professions in New York by convening and guiding the Boards’ work on licensure, professional practice, and discipline. Evan’s leadership is grounded in deep knowledge of how laws, regulations, education, and safe practice intersect, as well as collaborates with stakeholders, associations, and academic programs to provide regulatory guidance for licensees, employers, and the public.

Before assuming this executive regulatory role, Evan spent more than a decade in high-acuity clinical practice and professional monitoring, including his work in the Department’s Professional Assistance Program supporting impaired professionals, and his trauma-informed work with children, families, and adolescents in county mental health and residential settings. With an MSW, MBA, and LCSW-R licensure, Evan’s perspective powerfully complements the legal lens of regulated practice, offering attendees a truly comprehensive view of how regulation, practice, education, and public protection come together in the real world.
